Future proofing National Gallery Sainsbury Wing.

working with

Located in Westminster at the heart of St James, The National Gallery is an iconic Grade 1 listed building requiring special care and attention.

After the discovery of a series of minor leaks on the glass and aluminium structure, from decayed seals and inappropriate maintenance, we worked in conjunction with Barton Engineers on the Whitcomb Street elevation (Sainsbury Wing) to future proof and restore 380sqm of rooflight screens on this historic building.

WORK COMPLETED

  • 380 square meters of rooflight screens above the Whitcomb Street elevation.
  • Full strip back of current systems
  • Replacement of foiled backed Butyl sealing tape, pressure plate screws and replacement of laminated stippolyte glass units to match existing where necessary.
  • A professional external restoration clean to the PPC framing, panels and glass units using our specialist restoration fluids and powders.
